Johnson & Johnson considered moving its headquarters out of New Brunswick in the 1960s and after city officials promised to renovate the downtown area by demolishing old buildings and replacing them with new ones, the company decided to stay. This attracted people back to New Brunswick and Johnson & Johnson hired Henry N. Cobb to design an additional office building, which took the form of a white tower in a park close to the railroad tracks.

Besides being famous for such consumer brands as Aveeno, Listerine, Tylenol, Splenda and Reactine, the company also owns Vistakon, the manufacturer of all Acuvue contact lens products.
