1-Day Acuvue TruEye vs 1-Day Acuvue Moist

In this article in our series 'Acuvue Lenses Unveiled' we are looking at the 2 top daily wear lenses 1-Day Acuvue TruEye and 1-Day Acuvue Moist. Whereas 1-Day Acuvue Moist has been around for many years, it's the brand new Acuvue TruEye, that is getting some press lately (even though TruEye is not yet available in North America). It is the first daily-wear disposable contact lens made from a new silicone hydrogel material (Narafilcon A), which promises more comfort and better wetting. We have looked at the technical parameters and are comparing some other important contact lens features.

<;h4>Conclusion:

Both lenses offer imressive parameters although we believe that 1-Day Acuvue TruEye is the winner in this side-by-side comparison. It is clearly the next generation of disposable contact lenses and an improvement over 1-Day Acuvue Moist. Despite the shortage in available powers (which - we believe - will only be an issue during the initial introduction period) Acuvue TruEye has better UV blocking, and provides more oxygen flow to the cornea. In addition it comes with Hydraclear technology, a superior wetting agent that should provide additional comfort and a 'wetter' feeling.

We can't wait until 1-Day Acuvue TruEye will be available in North America. However the price tag for this new lens will be higher. Based on current online retail prices in the UK we estimate that the starting price will be in the low to mid 30's.
