Vistakon contact lens available for therapeutic use

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 28, 2008

Vistakon's Acuvue Oasys brand contact lens with Hydraclear Plus is now available for use as a therapeutic bandage contact lens, the company announced in a press release.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the additional indication for the plano lens, which features an 8.4 mm base curve, in October 2007 for use as a bandage lens for specific acute and chronic ocular conditions. The lens may also provide vision correction during healing if necessary, the release said.

Acuvue Oasys contact lenses can be worn continuously for up to 6 nights and 7 days when used for therapeutic indications.
