1-Day Acuvue TruEye

1-Day Acuvue TruEye is the world's FIRST daily disposable contact lens manufactured using a new breathable silicone hydrogel material called Narafilcon A - an innovative silicone hydrogel material saturated with a locked-in super smooth wetting agent which does not slow release onto the eye. Narafilcon A delivers 98% oxygen flux to the cornea.

Acuvue's new TruEye contact lenses are truly remarkable as patients will regain incredible white eyes and comfort at the end of the day because the super wet and super smooth surface has the lowest friction coefficient of any daily disposable lens on the market today - even exceeding 1-Day Acuvue Moist. This is great news for contact lens wearers experiencing pink eyes after a long day.

This new lens is already available in many countries in Europe and Asia/Pacific Rim.

According to some press releases and optometry related blogs, 1-Day Acuvue Moist will be soon available as a toric version. This is great news for patients with Astigmatism; like 1-Day Acuvue Moist they offer a very convenient way to wear contact lenses. These new daily disposable toric lenses eliminate the need for cleaning solutions, lens cases, or any type of maintenance effort!

Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., today announced the availability of a new 90-pack version for its 1-Day Acuvue Moist Contact Lenses.

In addition to the new 1-Day Acuvue Moist 90-lens pack, the company says it has also reduced the price of its 1-Day Acuvue Moist 30-lens pack and is offering a new wearer rebate specifically for 1-Day Acuvue Moist patients.

We have updated the acuvue rebate center showing the latest 2010 Acuvue Mail-in Rebates available from Vistakon, the makers of all Acuvue products.

So what has changed? Previous 2010 mail-in rebates have been extended until September 2010 and - for the first time - a mail-in rebate has been introduced for the new 1-Day Acuvue TruEye lenses.

2010 rebates are ranging from $20 to $100 for the following lenses: 1-Day Acuvue Moist, Acuvue Oasys, Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism, Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia and 1-Day Acuvue TruEye.

As before, certain retailers are excluded from this rebate promotion. When you buy from Costco®, WALMART®, Sam's Club® , 1-800 CONTACTS®, Sears Optical, and Target Optical, you are NOT eligible for this manufacturer mail-in rebate.

France to roll out 1-Day Acuvue TruEye

1-Day Acuvue TruEye is now available in France. Vistakon presented the new daily disposable silicone hydrogel lens to more than 300 optometrists in Paris. Acuvue TruEye is now listed on the official french acuvue site - acuvue.fr. Besides the french acuvue site, we found Acuvue TruEye on the UK site and - as previously reported - on the Hong Kong site. With the launch in France, Acuvue TruEye is starting to be available in more countries throughout Europe. Other countries that rolled-out AcuvueTruEye include Denmark, Sweden and Australia. We expect more countries to follow soon.

Acuvue TruEye was introduced less than a year ago (in September 2008), in the UK and in Ireland.

Johnson & Johnson Hong Kong has started to list and promote Acuvue TruEye on their web site www.acuvue.com.hk. Interesting to note that they also mention a suggested retail price per box, which is HK$265 (equal to about $34 USD).

1-Day Acuvue TruEye is the world's first daily disposable silicone-hydrogel lens - silicone hydrogel lenses are usually available as weekly or monthly lenses.

Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism

Brand new and introduced in June 2008, these lenses are specifically designed for people with Astigmatism. Astigmatism is the most common vision problem, caused by an irregular shape of the cornea. Astigmatism can usually be corrected with contact lenses, such as Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism. They will help take away the blur that is caused by this condition.

These lenses come with Hydraclear technology and UVA and UVB blocking which blocks more than 90 percent of UVA rays and 99 percent of UVB rays.

Hydraclear ensures a long lasting soft, moisture rich and silky feel. In addition they have the same reduced edge-height design as Acuvue 2.

According to multiple sources on the web and unveiled at the British Contact Lens Association conference in Birmingham (May 29), Johnson & Johnson is introducing 1-Day Acuvue TruEye, a new disposable lens that will be available in the UK and Ireland in autumn 2008.

Althought there wasn't any official release date announced for the US, we think that the new lens will (most likely) be made available in North America by the end of the year or in early 2009.

The lens is manufactured from a new material, narafilcon A, which has an extremely high oxygen transmissibility (Dk/t) of 118. It features Hydraclear, a moisture-rich ingredient specifically designed for the daily disposable modality and a new formulation of the technology already used in Acuvue Advance, Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism, Acuvue Oasys and Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism.
