The Cost of Wearing Acuvue Contacts |
|
Acuvue-now.com, Mar. 8, 2009 Should I get daily disposable contact lenses or am I better off with weekly or monthly lenses? Nowadays every dollar counts. Have you ever wondered what the true cost of wearing contact lenses was? Sure, there is the convenience that comes with daily disposable lenses, as you never have to worry about cleaning and disinfecting. Plus, in case you loose a lens, it's not a big deal. But, aren't weekly lenses much cheaper even after adding the cost for cleaning and rinsing solutions? Long story short - we are comparing the 'true' cost of wearing Acuvue lenses using our own formula and showing you a chart that calculates a price-per-day for all popular Acuvue lenses.
Our assumptions are: Daily disposable lenses are worn for 1 day. Weekly disposable lenses are worn for 7 days (no extended overnight wear) Monthly disposable lenses are worn for 30 days (no extended overnight wear) For weekly and monthly lenses we are adding the cost for using cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
Looking at the price of some of the most popular cleaning solutions (like the multipurpose CIBA Vision Clear Care) and using an average online retail price, the daily cost for cleaning and disinfecting is adding 20-25 cents (for 2 lenses per day) to the total.
