Acuvue and Johnson & Johnson Q2 2009 Earnings |
|
Acuvue-now.com, July 14, 2009 Today Johnson & Johnson released its quarterly earnings for the second quarter (Q2 2009). Johnson & Johnson worldwide sales were down 7.4% compared to the 2nd quarter in 2008 (as currency had a negative impact of 6%).
Any particular news on the vision care side? This is what we found in the earnings transcript: "...Rounding out the review for the medical devices and diagnostics segment, our vision care franchise achieved operational sales growth of 1.9% in the second quarter compared with the same period last year. Sales in the U.S. increased 1.8%; sales outside the U.S. increased 2% on an operational basis. The lens market overall is estimated to be flat to down slightly compared to the same period last year.
Estimated worldwide market share was in line with the same period last year and up two points on a sequential basis. Despite the softness in the markets, Acuvue Oasys, 1-Day Acuvue Moist and the Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism achieved strong double-digit growth." Unfortunately no comments on how Acuvue TruEye is doing in Europe. However, we think, overall the results are good, considering the tough economic climate right now.Source: Acuvue-now.com; Johnson & Johnson Earnings Transcript (Q2 2009) |
